Understanding air heating

What is a diesel air heater?

A diesel air heater warms the interior air of your vehicle or boat without relying on the engine for heat. It burns a small amount of diesel in a sealed combustion chamber, while the vehicle’s 12 V or 24 V electrical system powers the fan, fuel pump and controls.

Fuel is drawn from the vehicle’s fuel tank or a compatible separate tank.

The sealed combustion chamber heats the heater’s heat exchanger.

A fan circulates interior air across the heat exchanger and distributes warm air through the ducting.

An air heater warms cabin air directly. A liquid heater heats the vehicle’s coolant or water circuit.

Correct installation is essential: combustion air and exhaust gases must remain separated from the heated cabin air.

Gen 3 highlights

Quieter installation. Smarter control.

Gen 3 combines practical upgrades for quieter, more comfortable everyday heating — with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi + Bluetooth or GSM 4G + Bluetooth control.

New for Gen 3

Upgraded silent exhaust system

Gen 3 includes a larger muffler, flexible and extension exhaust pipes, improved clamps and heat-resistant fittings. The upgraded system is designed to reduce exhaust noise, vibration transfer and installation resonance.

Included with every Gen 3

SuperSilent™ fuel pump

Less ticking. More comfort.

The included SuperSilent™ fuel pump is designed to reduce the repetitive ticking noise associated with conventional diesel-heater fuel pumps, helping create a quieter installation.

“nice and quiet, unlike other Chinese heaters.”

Road-legal approval

Road-legal approval that also matters for insurance

Nordkapp® Air Gen 3 is type-approved under ECE R122 for vehicle heating systems and ECE R10 for electromagnetic compatibility. The heater must also be installed according to its instructions and all applicable national and vehicle-specific requirements.

Legal compliance

Installing a vehicle heater without the required approvals is not legal.

Insurance risk

An unapproved heater can create an insurance risk.

Correct installation still matters

Type approval does not replace correct installation.
